Bad Blogger

Hello and Thanks for Coming Back!

I have been a Bad Blogger for sometime. I noticed on my “Blog Calendar” that I have only 9 blog posts for October…not good for my 20 consistent followers! I really enjoy blogging, it’s just that life has gotten in the way for the last few (many) months, trying to balance all my life roles and the blog had gotten the short end of the deal…plus a few other areas in my life I have neglected, too, that deserved some attention.

On that note, I will be blogging three days a week (I hope.) That is my goal at this time and I hope you continue to come back!

So, on to today’s post…
One thing that I have wanted to do for sometime is my own memory keeping! So, I thought I could do some sort of October Daily. Come to find out, I am not the only one! October Daily Albums are pretty popular to create! I don’t know if it’s a warm up exercise to the infamous December Daily album (which completely stresses me out, but try to accomplish one every year and will let you know if that ever happens)

I sat down to start and I had. no. mojo. I could not get into the swing of scrapbooking. I just kept telling myself…who cares, just do it! FINALLY, it started rolling and I must admit, I really enjoyed myself!

These pages have the pictures, just need to go back and do the journaling.

Keeping it real…not everything is up to date what so ever, but I do have the pictures of memorabilia that I will be using for that day. img_0646

Sam had a football game and sacked the QB!! (brag moment) A friend told Sam that he had the best tackle of the night, but he needed to work on his form..it looked like a big bear hug! 🙂img_0648

Here you can see I have a picture, a card and a note for my “daily” item. img_0649

Thanks for coming back and enjoying in a different form (obviously not on my blog) what has been going on in the month October!

Guts

Velcome Back!

Halloween is just around the corner and Jack is in full swing of it all! He has his costume all ready, loves trying to scare us and even is enjoying a few Halloween movies (and not getting up in the middle of the night!)

Stay with me for the rest of the story..need to give you some background!

There is a trend out there right now with LARGE knitting.

In order to achieve this blanket, you need LARGE knitting needles and LARGE yarn!

I saw this yarn at a local store and thought it would be fun to use as a bow/ribbon on a gift. NOT. It’s WAY to large. So it has sat on my desk.

Until Jack found a Halloween use for it…
guts

Well, glad that it hasn’t gone to waste! So much for being inspired in a crafty manner with the yarn. And I think Jason and Jack need to stop watching so many scary movies…

PS…you see I said Jason and Jack about the movies. Sam and I don’t do scary movies. Unfortunately, Sam went over to a friends house Saturday night and they (the girls) decided to watch a scary movie…a really creepy movie. He excused himself and went outside to text Jason and I…“What am I suppose to do? I can’t stay outside for two hours!”  Well, after giving him several options, he went back inside and watched the movie with his eyes shut. (Come to find out, he wasn’t the only person that wasn’t too happy about watching a scary movie…funny though, it was all the boys that were more scared!!)

When I picked Sam up, first words out of his mouth, “Well, there goes my sleep for the next month!”  Which really means: I will be downstairs waking you up with each noise I hear until I fall sound asleep and if I do wake up, I will let you know that I am awake by texting you until you answer and if you don’t answer, I will stand by your bed until you wake up in start screaming “SAM WHAT ARE YOU DOING?” and then I will run out of the room then right back in, because it is too scary to run upstairs alone.

Which, is exactly what happened. At 1:52 am Sunday morning. One night down, many more to go.

Leaves x1000

Good Morning!

Guess what I need to do today and tomorrow and the next day?
First, I must mention this is what the driveway looks like only 24 hours after blowing leaves.
img_0596-001

I guess this is one draw back from living up against the woods. You just cannot keep up with the falling leaves!

img_0595-001

When I took Sam to school in morning, the leaves were actually falling around us. Sam stated, “It really is Fall!”
img_0598-001

Notice how clean the driveway is where the wind blows. Somehow I need to tunnel that wind to go down by our garage.

Can you spot Jack on the right side of the picture? He is checking out his half eaten pumpkin form yesterday’s post.

Then, he decided to see how any rocks he can throw into the pumpkin!

Because what else should you do with a squirrel eaten pumpkin in a wanna-be Good Housekeeping set up?

Pumpkin Gone Wrong

Hello!

This weekend I did yard work. I don’t like yard work. But, Jack and I had gone to the pumpkin patch and I was excited to display our pumpkins.

I thought a pumpkin in a wagon with a fun old screen window in the background would be a good Good Housekeeping set up. So, I placed my pumpkin into the wagon with intentions of adding more…once I figured that out.
img_0581

I came out the next morning, yea it takes me awhile to decide how I want to decorate, but as you can see, someone or something beat me to it.
Jason kept asking, what do you think did that??? A racoon?
I said I believed it to be a simple squirrel or maybe our local ground hog. (So much for trying to hot glue the pumpkin stem back on…yea, I was going to do that.)
img_0582

Anyway, I came back outside one hour later to go to Jack’s football game and noticed whatever it was that was/is eating the pumpkin, came back back to finish the carving. Hmmm…doesn’t like the seeds.img_0583

I must share that we’ve never had pumpkin issues in the 7 years that we have lived here. Also, of course, this was Jack’s favorite pumpkin. Imagine that. Good thing we have 4 more, but I think I will wait to place them in the wagon scene again.

Personal Hygine

Welcome Back!!

So, every once in a while I must remind my boys of personal hygiene. Brush your teeth, deodorant, wash your face and cut your nails. All 20 of your nails.

The other day I looked down and noticed Jack’s nails were on the verge of breaking the Guinness Book of World Records in the area of length. Oh. my. word. DUDE!! You need to cut those toenails!!

More aghast! BUDDY!! Your big toenail looks like a pointed vampire fang!! You need to fix that before it cuts through your socks!!

(Too late)

Later that evening, I asked Jack if he cut his toenails and fixed that big one.
“Yep!”
I looked at his toenails. Are. You Kidding. Me.
“JACK!”
“What? I did fix it! I made it even sharper by filing it with one of those files you have.”

What more can I say?

Reading…

Hello!

I just finished the book
Redemption Road
by John Hart

http://www.star-telegram.com/entertainment/books/cowteq/picture74163382/ALTERNATES/FREE_640/books%20redemption%20road%201

Oh. My. Word. Go. Get. It.

Redemption Road is an easy to read novel. Yet, it’s so well-written, it’s hard to put down.  The book is filled with horrific imagery of women being abducted, tortured and murdered. But from this ghastly premise rise two remarkable female characters.

One is Elizabeth Black, a North Carolina police detective who may soon face excessive-force and murder charges. After she came to the rescue of an 18-year-old kidnapping victim, the culprits suffered agonizingly slow deaths, 18 bullets emptied into the two men. Hart’s other memorable character is Channing Shore, the waiflike victim who refuses to stay a victim. She becomes a resilient survivor.

There’s a secret that bonds these women. Each is willing to sacrifice herself to save the other. Their special relationship is the one redeeming aspect of Redemption Road that makes it worth finishing.

There’s More…A boy with a gun waits for the man who killed his mother. After thirteen years in prison, a good cop walks free. But for how long?  And deep in the forest, on the altar of an abandoned church, the unthinkable has just happened…

The first paragraph makes this book sound horrible, which it is, but it is not graphic violence with details. It’s more of what your mind comes up with…

With that said, it is a slow read in the manner that I read almost every word of the book. I didn’t want to miss a thing. I didn’t know how all the  characters and their problems/issues/secrets were going to intertwine together, but boy do they. I don’t know how John Hart keeps all of it straight or how he was going to tie up all the loose ends, but he does in in such a non-cheesy way.

I give this book a 5 out of 5 stars.

I have put two other books of his on my reading list: The Lost Child and The Iron House.  Both have gotten amazing reviews.

Flag Football

Welcome, Back!

On Sunday, Jack had a flag football game and I finally took my camera to catch some photos! It was only 71 degrees…beautiful!! But, there was no breeze and the sun was baking, so it was actually hot watching the game, but no complaints! Next week we could be wearing parkas!

Anyway, Jack had a few highlights during the game and I actually caught one on camera!

He and his good buddy are heading into the huddle.

Jason calls the play. He always ends it with “Jack, (or whomever the play is called for) you’ll get the ball and score a touchdown.” The kids love that, especially when TD really happens!

Go Big!

Hello!!

You know the phrase “Go big or go home!” I have to admit, this phrase stresses me out. I understand the saying, but I really don’t get the saying. When do you know you’ve gone big, will other people see you as going big and when do you know that you’ve gone big enough to go home?

So I was pleasantly pleased when I came across this explanation.

Phew! Now I am good to go big!

Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary to my Mom and Dad!

img_8270

To the two people that have taught me that marriage is like a roller coaster: at points, it is going great, its fun and exciting and it feels like you are on top of the world! Other times it can be pretty low, your stomach drops, its really tough and it seems it would be easier to get off the ride. But what keeps the marriage together is the love and devotion and not giving into the feelings during the low dips on the roller coaster. The wonderful times should be appreciated and enjoyed…because you never know how long they will last! (heehee)  And two people that have been on the ride for 52 years, may know a few thing about the ups and downs of love and marriage.

Congratulations!!
Love you!!
