Welcome Back!

On the Monday of Thanksgiving break, Sam had all four wisdom teeth removed. Here he is when Jason and I went back to get him to take him home…I listened to the important post-op information given to us by the nurse…while Jason took pictures.

There are many stories and a couple videos of Sam while he was loopy, some favorites are when he burped and said, “Oh! God bless me!” I also asked him if he remembered Jason and I getting him and he said, “No. What did I say? Did I give you a thumbs up?”  He also shared how his nurse had a difficult time finding a vein on the right arm, so she had to switch to the left. Sam had sweaty hands and “I said a bad word, not to her, but under my breath. You know, she only has one job! Get it right!”

Jack found a costume in-case he decides to head out on Halloween night. He was trying to decide between an inflatable dinosaur, gorilla suit or the Scream costume.  Last weekend we watched the movie Scream, so that’s what he went with. (Plus I think he thought he could have more fun around the house with that one!)

When Jack was little he LOVED to dress up in Halloween costumes and I would find him sitting around the house in various characters. So it warmed my heart a bit to see him sitting at the counter the other day.

“Hey, Jack!”

Okay…that’s a bit creepy.

Good Morning!

Giving a Shout Out to all the parents who let their kids make or choose their own breakfast! I do that and today my kid chose and had Ramen Noodles before he got on the bus!

Some people have gasped..how can he have THAT for breakfast?!
I say…good practice for college! 🙂

Welcome Back!

This weekend the boys (Jason and Jack) went to the Halloween store to check out costumes. Trust me…Jason had just as much fun, if not more than Jack!

Is Jack going out on Halloween night…if wants to…why not? Honestly, it’s not really about the candy anymore…he and his friends like to get together and walk around for about an hour or two (depending on the weather.)

After a late night with Justin Timberlake, what are two people to do that are waiting for Starbucks to open at the Mall of America?

Why not take pictures with a Viking helmet!

All the NFL teams were represented in this “Walk of Helmets” display.

Since there were only a few people mall walking, why not climb in…

and get the feel of a Vikings player!

They may have been focusing on the play you can see right behind Sam, but Sam was in the right spot at the right time!

Sam’s comment…”That’s the kid I pancaked. Do you see that?”
Me, “Well, he goes down.”
Sam, “That’s a pancake, mom.”
I’m still learning football terms.

Welcome Back!

So Sam has seen a lot of playing time on Varsity the last couple of weeks (he’s so happy!). It’s fun to watch him play, but I need to remember that I have people around me, too.

For example, a play was ran and the target was Sam. I was taking a picture and noticed he cut across and was WIDE OPEN! (he’s in the white)

I had 101 thoughts go through my head. From he’s going to get tackled (eek) to he is wide open if he catches that ball (yay!!) It was a very overwhelming 3 seconds for me. So by the time the ball was thrown to Sam, I had stood up, grabbed Jason’s coat in a twisted small fist and yelled, “OH SHIT!”

The ball was thrown way over his head and so all 3 second of worry was for nothing. So, I sat down and realized people were looking at me and thank goodness…they were laughing! I quickly gave a group apology, looked at Jason, who was just shaking his head and asked me, “Do you even know what you just did?”  I gave him the “eek” look and said, “I didn’t think anyone would hear me.”

Oops!

We are in full swing of football season for both of the boys and both have had great beginnings to their new football adventures!

This year is the first year of tackle football for Jack. In the past he has played flag football and loved it! Next year in eighth grade, if he chooses to play, will be tackle football. Jason and he decided that it would be good for him to try out tackle this year before school ball, to get the jitters out and try his hand at tackling other players.

Well, we have discovered that Jack is a-okay with tackling!
Jack hadn’t been in to do much tackling, but this is last weeks game…first play and first tackle! Boys not showing any jitters!

Even pushed his own teammate out of the way!

On Sunday, the team was at it again!

I was busy chit-chatting and did not notice or get a picture of Jack scoring the 2 point conversion!  Oops! Still very happy for him!

So far this season Jack’s team is 2-1. Not a bad way to begin the first half of the season!

Hello!

Due to busy schedules, the boys had to purchase their school supplies on separate days this summer. School started on Thursday and Sam finally decided it was time to get school supplies on that Tuesday. Needless to say, school supplies were slim. Not just slim but slim, skinny, none.

We started our shopping at Target. We were able to get a few folders and pens, but no notebooks. Seriously, they were out of notebooks.

So we headed over to Staples and their notebooks were $2.50. I told Sam I was not buying him notebooks for $2.50!

Third stop, Wal-Mart. Not only did they have notebooks, but they were only 25 cents!! Stoooooock Up!!

At the check out I realized I did not get a school supply shopping picture, so I took one of Sam checking out!

I then took one with the two of us together in the security camera on the cash register. Sam said, “Stop. You’re weird.”

 I got my back to school shopping pictures though!

Hello!

Sam is now playing football on Friday  nights! He is so happy and excited! He’s put in a lot of work and is pleased to finally get his chance on the field.

(warning: mom brag post!)

Last Friday, we played one of our rivals, Centennial High School. It’s a big game for our town and almost 10,000 people go to this one! Jack also got to run on the field with his Junior Football team and make a “tunnel'” for the varsity players to run through. Sam looked for Jack and both were pleased to see each other

Sam did not see any play time the first half, but played almost the entire second half.

 I think he did amazing and they announced his name when he had a tackle!!

When they announced his name, I cheered, pretty loud!  Then apologized to the people around me and explained that this  was his first time on the field.

Later that night I got this text from a friend…I guess she heard me cheering!

I wasn’t the only one that was excited!! My mom joined in, too!
I got this text from another friend.

Unfortunately, it was a shut out, 0-20, them. Not a fun ending. When Sam got home, he said, “I am so bummed we lost, but I’m so happy that I got to play! When I ran out there I thought, ‘This is what it feels like!'”

We’ve always told the boys to enjoy what they are doing, have fun even when the outcome isn’t what you hope for and I think that is exactly what Sam did last Friday night.
