Go Hawks!

Hello!

I have to tell you about the new mascot for our team The Hawks! She is my new favorite person!

At our first home football game, I caught a glimpse of a Hawk walking down the sidewalk and snapped a picture of this new gal walking around!!

I soon heard her/the story (hope this is true!) It is a gal, I think a sophomore, that has been after our Athletic Director to allow her to be the Mascot for the Hawks. He kept turning her down. She did not give up and persevered this year!  The AD finally gave in and let her be the Mascot.

So this gal and her mom MADE the costume for her to wear and she wore it proudly that night! She was amazing and so fun to watch!!

Such a great lesson of not giving up! Hope to see her again at the next home game and maybe get a close up with her…I mean with the Hawk!

School Pictures!

Hello!

Due to busy schedules, the boys had to purchase their school supplies on separate days this summer. School started on Thursday and Sam finally decided it was time to get school supplies on that Tuesday. Needless to say, school supplies were slim. Not just slim but slim, skinny, none.

We started our shopping at Target. We were able to get a few folders and pens, but no notebooks. Seriously, they were out of notebooks.

So we headed over to Staples and their notebooks were $2.50. I told Sam I was not buying him notebooks for $2.50!

Third stop, Wal-Mart. Not only did they have notebooks, but they were only 25 cents!! Stoooooock Up!!

At the check out I realized I did not get a school supply shopping picture, so I took one of Sam checking out!

I then took one with the two of us together in the security camera on the cash register. Sam said, “Stop. You’re weird.”

I got my back to school shopping pictures though!

Happy!

Welcome Back!

The other night Sam had his friends over for their fourth annual football draft. Charlie was beside herself because these boys are not neat eaters!

Look at that big smile on her face! She spent the entire evening down in the basement with the boys and may have gained 5 pounds…BUT, the floor is clean!

Friday Night Football…

Hello!

Sam is now playing football on Friday  nights! He is so happy and excited! He’s put in a lot of work and is pleased to finally get his chance on the field.

(warning: mom brag post!)

Last Friday, we played one of our rivals, Centennial High School. It’s a big game for our town and almost 10,000 people go to this one! Jack also got to run on the field with his Junior Football team and make a “tunnel'” for the varsity players to run through. Sam looked for Jack and both were pleased to see each other

Sam did not see any play time the first half, but played almost the entire second half.

I think he did amazing and they announced his name when he had a tackle!!

When they announced his name, I cheered, pretty loud!  Then apologized to the people around me and explained that this  was his first time on the field.

Later that night I got this text from a friend…I guess she heard me cheering!

I wasn’t the only one that was excited!! My mom joined in, too!
I got this text from another friend.

Unfortunately, it was a shut out, 0-20, them. Not a fun ending. When Sam got home, he said, “I am so bummed we lost, but I’m so happy that I got to play! When I ran out there I thought, ‘This is what it feels like!'”

We’ve always told the boys to enjoy what they are doing, have fun even when the outcome isn’t what you hope for and I think that is exactly what Sam did last Friday night.

Parenting…

Welcome Back!

I came across this description from Melissa McCarthy on being a parent and it is spot on!

“It’s extreme everything. It’s extremely tiring. It’s extremely overwhelming in a good way. It’s everything you hear when this crazy creature shows up and you just can’t — I just can’t imagine or quite remember [what it was like] prior to that. And all the chaos and the noise and the nuttiness, it just somehow makes it all better.

I’ve done away with sleep…because you just don’t sleep when you have two kids.

But they’re just so funny. The bigger they get, the weirder and the funnier and their true personalities come out.

And they just surprise me every day. There’s nothing quite like it.”

And I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Photo Op…

Hello!

Check out these fall photos of Jack!

First the “senior picture” pose!

Nothing like getting lost in the leaves!

This is what happens when it is the last week of school and there’s nothing to do, so you go to Micheal’s and they have out all their fall product!
(I can feel your eyes rolling!)

Better with a Friend…

Happy Monday!

When Jason and I do errands, depending on where we go, we will take Charlie with us. She hangs out in the back by herself and is pretty content. This weekend, Jack decided to join us and Charlie was super happy to have him in the backseat with her!

Look at that smile! It’s almost like she is saying, “Check out who’s back here with me! Isn’t this great! I’m so happy!”

So True!

Welcome Back!

I came across these comics about sleeping habits with your significant other and found myslef laughing out loud!!

I think this happened last night…

This is me anytime Jason turns on ANY light…even his small table light. He now uses his the flashlight on his phone to come to bed!

Jason insists that this light it the brightest thing in the world!!

Good to know that others can feel and have experienced our pain!

Just Finished…

Welcome Fellow Readers!

I Just finished the book, The Book of Essie
by Meghan Maclean Wier.

Esther Ann Hicks–Essie–is the youngest child on Six for Hicks, a reality television phenomenon. She’s grown up in the spotlight, both idolized and despised for her family’s fire-and-brimstone brand of faith. When Essie’s mother, Celia, discovers that Essie is pregnant, she arranges an emergency meeting with the show’s producers: Do they sneak Essie out of the country for an abortion? Do they pass the child off as Celia’s? Or do they try to arrange a marriage–and a ratings-blockbuster wedding?

Meanwhile, Essie is quietly pairing herself up with Roarke Richards, a senior at her school with a secret of his own to protect and whose family is on it’s wit’s end financially.  The newly formed couple attempt to sell their fabricated love story to the media–through exclusive interviews with an infamously conservative reporter named Liberty Bell.

I loved this book, though the subject matter that comes to light is tough to read at times. My favorite characters are Essie an Roarke, and the relationship that grows between the two. It’s a love that’s different from what most of us expect between two people, but it is love nonetheless.  This book is about love, bravery, being the person for yourself when others have failed you and trust…and much more.

I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5.
